Equip Outdoor Technologies UK Ltd based in Alfreton, Derbyshire specialise in the design and marketing of technical outdoor clothing and equipment. Our experienced and enthusiastic team develop innovative designs, manufactured to the highest standard and brought to market throughout the world. Equip Outdoor Technologies own and operate two leading aspirational outdoor brands, Rab and Lowe Alpine. Our team is based at our Head Office just outside The Peak District National Park off jct28 of the M1 corridor.
Great opportunity to join our team as Designer! You will take a key role in the Design team in designing innovative, functional, aesthetically pleasing technical products with a commercial edge.
Key Responsibilities:- Play a key role in the Design team in designing innovative, functional, aesthetically pleasing technical products with a commercial edge.
- Be fully engaged in the complete design process, from origination of commercial design concepts and briefs, support of all range planning activities, design prototyping and development through to sales samples manufacture and review.
- Keep up to date with current and future trends.
- Use your knowledge of performance fabrics and technologies to contribute to materials innovation and selection.
- Produce detailed product specifications to realise products successfully and within cost, working closely with the Development team.
- Liaise with and visit factories to ensure accuracy of sampling, commerciality, best quality and fitness for purpose.
- Being aware of competitors, end user needs and ensuring products are fit for purpose.
To join us you must have:
Essential:- Relevant Design qualification(s).
- Experience in a similar position with relevant brand(s).
- Proven experience in the complete design process for performance outdoor clothing, from origination of design concepts and briefs, range planning activities, design prototyping and development through to sales samples manufacture and review.
- Ability to produce detailed product specifications to realise garments successfully and within cost.
- Previous experience of liaising with and visiting factories in Asia.
- Familiar with and willing to broaden knowledge of the different design requirements of international markets.
- Experience of using Excel, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, MS Office.
- Proven skills in creative flair, commercial acumen and sound judgement.
- Versatility to work on a broad range of technical product categories.
- Working knowledge of performance fabrics and technologies to contribute to materials innovation/selection and product commercialisation.
- Detailed understanding of fit requirements and garment construction.
- Extensive knowledge and experience of performance fabrics and technologies.
- A passion for the outdoors and a wide, continually updating knowledge of outdoor clothing and equipment in the market.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet multiple deadlines.
- Team orientated, good negotiator and inspiring communicator.
- Experience of 3D CAD.
