What does the job involve?
Dogger Bank Offshore Wind Farm, the largest in the world, is being developed in three phases, located 100-150 nautical miles off the coast of South Shields and covering over 1,500 km². During operations, maintenance will be carried out from four Service Operations Vessels (SOVs), each supported by a Daughter Craft (DC). The Operations & Maintenance (O&M) base, including a warehouse for spare parts and consumables, will be based at the Port of Tyne, South Tyneside-alongside Equinor's UK Central Control Room.
Equinor is the operator during the operations phase and is expanding its O&M team at the Port of Tyne. We are looking for a WTG Engineer to support the operation and maintenance of the Haliade-X wind turbines.
This role is key to ensuring a smooth transition from construction to operations, maintaining continuity of knowledge and performance. Due to the collaborative nature of the role, candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to the local area.
What will my tasks be?
Within this position, your key tasks will be to:
In initial project execution phase:

  • Operational preparation for WTG asset Handover.
  • Support SWA ramp up and milestone deliveries.
  • Participate in WTG design reviews, technical clarifications, acceptance tests, system walkdowns and handovers for ensuring safe and efficient design for operational use.
  • Follow up multiple interfaces for the WTG scope of the project development as the O&M representative.
  • Follow up pre-commencement milestone activities of the Service and Warranty Agreement.
  • Contribute to competence profile strategy for WTG technicians that will be employed by Equinor and seconded to GE.
  • Be prepared to do short term business travels offshore, domestically and internationally if required.

In operations phase:
  • Day to day execution of SWA Services and operational follow up of SWA contractor.
  • Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the WTG assets at Dogger Bank.
  • Management of projects such as major component replacements.
  • Management of WTG contractors.
  • Review loss of production from WTGs, provide analysis and collaborate to recommend improvements to asset and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with other asset O&M engineers to support the operation and maintenance of all the wind farm assets.
  • Ensure high quality maintenance and safety information is captured and processed in corporate systems in line with management system processes.

Qualifications:
  • Technical, operational and maintenance experience from high MW direct drive WTGs.
  • Desirable experience with GE renewable operations and/or GE WTGs.
  • Fluent English oral and writing.
  • Degree or HND in electrical/electronic engineering or similar.
  • Relevant experience may compensate for formal qualifications.
  • Must be prepared to undertake offshore medical, HUET and GWO training.
