What does the job involve?
The LNG Portfolio Trader is responsible for extracting the maximum trading value from the inherent flexibility in Equinor's LNG portfolio of term physical and financial contracts using portfolio analytical and option trading principles.

The job will also include enhancing proprietary pricing models for LNG optionality facilitating the valuation of new contracts.

The role is part of a trading team with focus on maximizing the total value of the LNG portfolio and will be operating with a "one book" approach and common team targets.

What will my tasks be?

Within this position, your key tasks will be to:

  • Manage across the medium term positions (within liquid time horizon), and long term positions.
  • Develop and execute hedging strategies and the monetization of volumetric optionality embedded in the portfolio (e.g., cancellation clauses and other volumetric) through financial delta-hedging strategies in close coordination with the regional trading teams.
  • Identify trading opportunities (market trends, volatility patterns, and arbitrage opportunities) enabling clear decision making at trading desk level and for senior management.
  • Build and enhance portfolio and option pricing models.
  • Collaborate with Originators and Traders valuing new structured transactions considering physical and financial constraints and ensuring alignment with the portfolio's risk and value objectives.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering. An advanced degree (e.g., MBA, CFA, or Master's in Financial Engineering) is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in trading software, risk management tools, and programming languages (e.g., Python, VBA, SQL) for analytics.
  • Fluency in written and oral English is required, fluency in other languages is an advantage but not a requirement.
  • Experience as a strategist, structurer, or options quant on a commodity trading floor-preferably in LNG, natural gas, and/or power markets.
  • Proven track record in structured physical transactions, including sale and purchase agreements, swing options, and tolling arrangements.
  • Self-motivated and resilient, with a results-driven approach.
  • Good communication skills and able to foster close collaboration with traders.
  • High standards of business ethics.
