Job Summary: As a Controls Engineering Manager for the North Region (Ireland / UK / Sweden / Finland), you'll play a key leadership role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of our critical infrastructure, while developing and empowering a team of talented engineers.
The Opportunity: As the Controls Engineering Manager, you will lead a regional team of Controls Engineers supporting our data centre operations. You will provide technical leadership, drive engineering excellence, and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver safe, reliable, and scalable control systems across our facilities. This role combines people leadership, strategic thinking, and deep technical expertise. You'll have the opportunity to influence infrastructure design, operational performance, and the future development of our controls engineering capability.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Controls Engineers
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative environment where people can grow and succeed
- Provide technical oversight, guidance, and design reviews for control systems and infrastructure projects
- Partner with Operations, Design Engineering, Construction, Procurement, and Project Management teams to deliver integrated solutions
- Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and engineering best practices
- Champion safety, compliance, and risk management across all engineering activities
- Support major infrastructure projects, testing activities, and system implementations
- Ensure systems are designed and maintained for long-term reliability, efficiency, and operational excellence
Qualifications:
Technical Expertise:
- Strong controls engineering knowledge within a critical infrastructure environment such as data centres, manufacturing, or complex building systems
- Experience in controls system design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Understanding of engineering standards, safety regulations, and quality assurance practices
- Knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies, CAFM systems, and critical facility infrastructure
- Technical understanding of networks, servers, and virtualised environments
Leadership Skills:
- Proven experience leading and developing engineering teams
- Ability to coach, mentor, and build capability across a technical organisation
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills in complex operational environments
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes
- Experience influencing and collaborating across multiple disciplines and teams
