Job Summary: We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced individual for the role of Senior Critical Facilities Engineer. In this role, you will use your years of relevant experience to take a leading position within the team and use your technical expertise to guide and develop others. You will act as a support for your supervisors and lead by example, playing the pivotal role of coach to those who need it on the team. Your key responsibilities are to maintain and ensure the technical operation of all key infrastructure within the Equinix Data Centres, ensuring that preventive and corrective maintenance is carried out in a timely and correct manner. You will work closely with subcontractors and be a point of technical reference for those around you. If you are a motivated and focused professional who thrives on change, on troubleshooting complex issues, and analysing logs and diagnostics tools to resolve power/cooling, hardware/software issues, this is the perfect opportunity for you. This is a 24/7 position, therefore in this role you will be working shift work (including nights).
What will you do?
- Facility Infrastructure Maintenance: Ensure the seamless operation of our facility infrastructure through diligent maintenance practices.
- Site Inspections & Monitoring: Conduct regular site inspections and monitor building and data centre alarms to ensure optimal performance.
- Preventative Maintenance: Oversee and execute hands-on preventative maintenance on site infrastructure, either directly or through vendor management, including managing the permit to work system (UPS, generators, BMS, chillers, and life safety systems. HV switching experience preferred).
- Repairs & Corrective Maintenance: Perform and manage repairs and corrective maintenance on critical equipment to maintain uninterrupted service.
- Planned Maintenance: Prepare and execute planned maintenance activities to ensure the reliability of our infrastructure.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive site logs and data records, including MOPs (Method of Procedure) and scripts.
- Incident Response: Assist senior staff in responding to on-site incidents and take initiative in handling basic incidents based on your expertise.
- Work Requests & Installations: Complete basic work requests and circuit installations efficiently.
- Infrastructure Projects: Participate actively in ongoing infrastructure projects to enhance our facilities.
- Works Projects: Execute works projects to improve site functionality.
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Be skilled in troubleshooting complex issues that may arise within the Data Center. To analyse system logs and use diagnostic tools to identify and resolve issues related to power, cooling, or hardware/software failures.
Who are you?
- Educational Background: ONC/BTEC/NVQ or equivalent qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: Previous experience in data centre environment or a closely transitional industry.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of critical infrastructure, including UPS, generators, BMS, chillers, and life safety systems. HV switching experience is needed and you would have been an HVAP.
- Personal Attributes: Self-motivated, flexible, and capable of working independently or as part of a team. Willingness to work shifts (days, nights & weekends).
