Overview: As a Senior Technical Designer within the CREDDI team, you will play a leading role in ensuring the technical excellence of workplace projects across the global portfolio. You will act as a technical authority and integrator, bridging design intent with construction reality, ensuring that all projects are robustly detailed, coordinated, compliant, and aligned with CREDDI standards and strategic priorities. This role is largely focused on RIBA Stages 3 onwards driving quality and consistency across technical design and construction documentation. You will work closely with both external and internal partners including but not limited to; interior designers, engineers, consultants, operations, security and IT/AV, ensuring that all technical outputs meet the highest standards in coordination, sustainability, and operational performance. This role reports into the Global Director of Design, Delivery & Innovation, as part of Corporate Real Estate (CREDDI) and is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and help shape the workplace design direction across the entire Equinix office portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Design Leadership & Assurance: Review technical design and construction packages across all capital workplace projects, identifying risks, gaps, and non-compliance with design intent and specifications. Ensure design intent is translated into fully coordinated, buildable, and compliant solutions. Act as a technical gatekeeper within CREDDI design and stage-gate reviews. Drive consistency and quality across all regions, ensuring alignment with CREDDI standards and governance processes.
  • MEP Coordination & Building Systems Integration: Ensure Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems are fully coordinated, appropriately specified, and aligned with performance and operational requirements. Integrate MEP systems seamlessly with architectural and workplace design. Challenge consultants and contractors to deliver efficient, maintainable, and high-performing solutions. Drive alignment with global engineering standards and local regulatory requirements.
  • Security, IT & AV Integration: Act as the integration lead for Security and IT and AV systems within the workplace. Ensure coordination across MEP, architectural, and technology disciplines. Maintain compliance with global technology and security standards.
  • Technical Sustainability & Performance: Drive implementation of sustainability commitments at a technical level across all projects. Drive alignment with energy, carbon, and material performance targets. Embed sustainability into technical design decisions and specifications. Support certification targets (e.g. WELL, LEED) through coordinated technical delivery.
  • Standards, Governance & Quality Control: Uphold and continuously improve CREDDI Design Standards and Technical Guidelines. Drive projects to comply with internal standards, local codes, and best practices. Provide technical input into global standards evolution, incorporating lessons learned. Support stage-gate governance, ensuring technical readiness at each approval milestone.
  • Construction Interface & Delivery Support: Review contractor outputs including shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs, providing alignment with design intent and specifications. Support project teams during construction to resolve technical queries and challenges. Monitor technical quality through delivery, to make sure issues are addressed proactively.
  • Digital Design & BIM Coordination: Promote best practice in BIM, digital coordination, and clash detection workflows. Drive effective use of tools such as Revit and Navisworks for coordination and quality. Drive improvements in digital design processes and data consistency across projects.
  • Operational Readiness & Handover: Drive technical design supports functionality, maintainability, and lifecycle performance. Contribute to handover processes, to enable accurate as-built and asset information.
  • Collaboration, Advisory & Continuous Improvement: Act as a technical advisor and centre of excellence across CREDDI globally. Collaborate closely with Programme, Delivery, Design, and Cost teams. Participate in post-occupancy evaluations, focusing on technical performance. Identify opportunities to improve coordination, efficiency, and delivery outcomes.

Key Competencies:

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Building Services, Architecture, Architectural Technology, or related field
  • Proven years of experience in technical design and delivery of workplace or commercial projects
  • Strong proficiency in: Revit (preferred), AutoCAD, BIM coordination tools (e.g. Navisworks)
  • Strong knowledge of: Building systems (MEP), Construction detailing and specifications, Building codes and regulations
  • Preferred: Professional accreditation (e.g. RIBA, CIAT, CIBSE), WELL / LEED accreditation
