We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced individual who can act as a subject‑matter expert for Data Centre controls and monitoring systems within the Critical Facilities Team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to take a leading position within the team and use your technical expertise to guide and develop others. You will act as a support for your more senior‑level colleagues & supervisors and lead by example, playing the pivotal role of coach to those who need it on the team.
Your key responsibilities are to maintain and ensure the technical operation of all key infrastructure within the Equinix data centres, ensuring that preventive and corrective maintenance is carried out in a timely and correct manner. You will work closely with subcontractors and be a point of technical reference for those around you. - Facility Infrastructure Maintenance: Ensure the seamless operation of our facility infrastructure through diligent maintenance practices.
- Site Inspections & Monitoring: Conduct regular site inspections and monitor building and data centre alarms to ensure optimal performance.
- Preventative Maintenance: Oversee and execute hands-on preventative maintenance on site infrastructure, either directly or through vendor management, including managing the permit to work system (UPS, generators, BMS, chillers, and life safety systems. HV switching experience preferred and LV is required).
- Repairs & Corrective Maintenance: Perform and manage repairs and corrective maintenance on critical equipment to maintain uninterrupted service.
- Planned Maintenance: Prepare and execute planned maintenance activities to ensure the reliability of our infrastructure.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive site logs and data records, including MOPs (Method of Procedure) and scripts.
- Incident Response: Assist senior staff in responding to on‑site incidents and take initiative in handling basic incidents based on your expertise.
- Work Requests & Installations: Complete basic work requests and circuit installations efficiently.
- Infrastructure Projects: Participate actively in ongoing infrastructure projects to enhance our facilities.
- Works Projects: Execute works projects to improve site functionality.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: ONC/BTEC/NVQ or equivalent qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: Previous experience in data centre environment or a closely transitional industry. A focus on compliance and controls within a critical environment is essential.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of critical infrastructure, including UPS, generators, BMS, chillers, and life safety systems. You will need to have been LV certificated previously.
- Personal Attributes: Self‑motivated, flexible, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
