You’ll work across teams, influence key decisions, and help shape the path forward. You’ll find belonging, purpose, and a team that welcomes you—because when you feel valued, you’re empowered to do your best work. We’re looking for a passionate and driven engineering professional to join our team, working at the heart of our critical infrastructure environments.
In this role, you’ll play a key part across the full lifecycle of engineering delivery – from planning and system design through to implementation, maintenance, and ongoing optimisation. You’ll lead smaller-scale projects and support the rollout of engineering initiatives, while also contributing to the development of engineering standards, policies, and best practices. Collaboration is central to this role – you’ll work closely with design engineering, site engineering, construction, and operations teams, as well as external vendors and consultants, to deliver exceptional outcomes.
This is a fantastic opportunity to combine hands‑on technical expertise with project leadership, helping to shape both day‑to‑day operations and the longer-term direction of our data centre environments.
Location & working pattern:
- Primarily based across London and Slough, with your “home” data centre aligned to the site closest to you for day-to-day travel
- Occasional travel to Manchester will be required
- Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, with flexibility around start times to support work-life balance
- Currently minimum 2 days in office to change with company guidance (office space available 5 days a week if preferred)

- Apply Equinix processes and procedures to resolve non-routine or complex issues

- Identify power and cooling constraints alongside capacity and site engineering teams, helping shape practical solutions
- Training & Development
- Support the onboarding and development of new team members
- Continue building expertise through hands‑on experience, vendor training, and knowledge sharing
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in specific systems and support the development of others
- Contract Administration
- Support effective contract administration, including the creation, review, and tracking of contracts, change orders, and cost forecasts
- Leadership & Communication (including Vendor Management)
- Mentor and support more junior engineers
- Coordinate and guide internal teams and external partners (contractors, design teams, suppliers, etc.)
- Communicate effectively across functions, including contributing to SOP development and technical documentation
- Engage with stakeholders across the business, including occasional senior‑level communications
- Policy & Procedure
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of policies, procedures, and standards
- Ensure adherence through documentation reviews, commissioning activities, and site inspections
- Problem Solving
- Take ownership of complex, cross-functional challenges
- Proactively identify risks and recommend system-level improvements
- Technical Expertise
- Maintain and deepen expert-level knowledge across key systems
- Act as a go‑to technical expert within the team
- Share knowledge through internal sessions or external industry forums where appropriate
