As a SEO and Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) Manager at Equimedia, you will support the planning and delivery of Search Engine and Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) strategies that ensure our clients' websites are easy to use and discoverable by people and AI‑powered engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity. You will work in a team that combines data, technology and people to make brands visible, trusted and referenced across search results and AI‑generated answers. Reporting to the Head of SEO/AEO.
Working in this role, you will:
- Help evolve SEO into 'SEO & AEO', ensuring clients are visible in both classic search results and AI‑generated answers.
- Balance experimentation in AI search with clear, evidence‑based reporting that demonstrates success in a dual human‑and‑machine search landscape.
- Research and present evidence for your CRO recommendations, design and run the experiments, evaluate results and develop further hypotheses for testing.
- Help devise 90‑day SEO/AEO and CRO client bespoke optimisation roadmaps.
- Be part of a 25+ year agency that is actively interrogating how search, content and AI work together for brands across B2B and B2C markets.
Key responsibilities:
- Stay up to date with Google and AI search trends, including personalised search, citation behaviours, multimedia interpretation.
- Compile and present ranking and visibility updates for client site, site section and page performance in organic search, interrogated data and extract insights to inform SEO/AEO tactics.
- Review site content for under‑performing site pages or sections against ideal EEAT requirements.
- Provide clear recommendations and guidance on how to improve content and support the client to implement your recommendations.
- Support the devising, implementing and evaluating of CRO experiments to improve site usability, landing pages and site conversion.
- Collaborate closely with Equimedia's data, media and technology teams to test new AEO approaches and integrate them into client strategies in a commercially pragmatic way.
Skills and experience:
- Educated to degree level with 2+ years' experience in SEO (agency or in‑house).
- Good numerical skills with the ability to analyse performance data and use tools such as Google Analytics, Search Console and other SEO platforms.
- Ability to gather site performance and marketing data, interrogate that data, generate actionable insights and clearly communicate optimisations required to clients.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to explain the complex, simply.
- Familiarity with AI or AEO concepts is a plus but you must be curious about generative AI, LLMs and answer engines, with a desire to develop specialist expertise in AEO and AI visibility.
- Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work closely with strategists, analysts, developers and content creators.
- Organised and methodical in approach.
- Good attention to detail.
