Learning and Development Manager in Manchester

Learning and Development Manager in Manchester

Manchester Full-Time On-site
Equilibrium Healthcare Limited

Equilibrium Healthcare is looking for an experienced Learning and Development Manager to manage, develop and deliver training across the organisation.

This is a hands-on role combining responsibility for the overall learning and development function with the practical delivery of training. You will identify organisational and employee development needs, create and implement training programmes, oversee compliance, and evaluate whether learning is improving employee capability and effectiveness.

You will also personally deliver classroom-based and practical training alongside our existing trainers. This is therefore not solely a training coordination or administration role. You will need to be a confident and engaging facilitator who is comfortable working directly with colleagues across our services.

Working closely with employees, operational managers, HR and senior leaders, you will ensure training supports business objectives, regulatory requirements and the health and social care needs of the people within our services.

The role

As Learning and Development Manager, you will:

  • Determine and assess organisational, service and employee training and development needs.
  • Create and implement training strategies, materials, and programmes linked to specific business objectives.
  • Personally deliver classroom-based, workshop and practical training alongside EHC’s existing trainers.
  • Identify and implement training that reflects the health and social care needs of the people within our services.
  • Work with employees, HR, managers and senior leaders to agree priorities and achieve training objectives.
  • Plan and coordinate the annual training programme across the organisation.
  • Manage employee enrolment, training schedules, venues, and the resources required to facilitate training.
  • Monitor attendance, compliance, completion, and the application of learning in practice.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and success of training programmes and recommend improvements.
  • Track training performance, analyse information, and produce clear management reports.
  • Maintain accurate training records and manage training budgets and resources.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, employee capability, and return on investment from training.
  • Keep up to date with learning trends, regulatory developments and recognised best practice.
  • Support the development, consistency, and effectiveness of EHC’s wider training team.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience as a Learning and Development Manager, Training Manager or within a broader HR or learning and development role.
  • Has experience designing, developing, implementing and evaluating workplace training programmes.
  • Is a confident trainer who can engage groups and adapt delivery to different roles, experience levels and learning needs.
  • Is comfortable taking responsibility for both the management and practical delivery of training.
  • Understands a range of learning methods, including coaching, workshops, classroom training, mentoring, and e-learning.
  • Can track training performance, assess effectiveness, write reports, and recommend practical improvements.
  • Can translate policies, regulatory requirements, and operational needs into clear and relevant training.
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Has strong IT, leadership, organisation, planning, and time-management skills.
  • Works effectively with employees, HR colleagues, managers, and senior leaders.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail, critical thinking, initiative, and sound judgement.
  • Can manage competing priorities and follow actions through to completion.

Experience within health or social care would be useful, but strong practical training delivery experience and the ability to implement effective learning across a busy organisation are central to the role.

What makes this role different?

This role combines ownership of the learning and development function with direct involvement in training delivery. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Shape the organisation’s learning and development priorities.
  • Develop new training programmes and improve existing provision.
  • Work directly with operational leaders to strengthen workforce capability.
  • Deliver training and see how learning is applied within our services.
  • Support and develop the wider training function across EHC.
  • Influence how training is planned, measured and improved across several specialist healthcare services.

What we offer

  • Salary of £32,000–£36,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • 40 hours per week.
  • Based at our Moston site, travel to other EHC services as required.
  • Birthday day off.
  • Loyalty Reward Programme.
  • Free onsite parking.
  • Eye Care Vouchers.
  • Ongoing training and professional development.
  • Career progression opportunities within Equilibrium Healthcare.
