Most of what we say about paraplanning at Equilibrium is about the client-facing route. This is the other one, and it matters just as much.

We are Equilibrium Financial Planning, an award-winning, independent Chartered financial planning firm based near Wilmslow, managing over £1.4bn for our clients. Our purpose is simple: making people's lives better. That applies to the people who work here as much as the people we plan for. We are backed by Sovereign Capital and growing by acquisition, which means more complex casework arriving, not less.

The role is a technical paraplanning role and it is non-client-facing by design. You will not be asked to sit in client meetings, present findings or hold relationships. That is a preference some of the best paraplanners hold, and we have built a seat around it.

You will work directly with our Client Managers, who do sit in the meetings and know each case well, so the briefs you receive are real briefs. From there the work is yours: research, analysis and recommendations across pensions, investments and protection; suitability reports that are accurate, compliant and easy for a client to read; a clean record of research and rationale that stands up to scrutiny; and the confidence to flag an issue or an opportunity when the numbers say so.

Our clients bring serious cases. Average portfolio around £800k, with estates, IHT and multi-generational planning a regular part of the work. Client banks are balanced deliberately, so the casework varies.

Who we are looking for:

  • CII Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, or an equivalent qualification
  • Proven paraplanning experience with a strong understanding of pensions, investments and protection
  • Someone who wants the technical craft long term
  • Sharp attention to detail and a genuine liking for a good process
  • A clear writer, able to make a complex recommendation simple without losing the substance
  • Comfortable working closely with Client Managers and Financial Planners, and comfortable challenging them constructively

Growth:

If Level 6 and Chartered status is a goal, we cover exam fees and study materials and give you paid study and exam leave. Some of our paraplanners stay technical and go deep. That is a full career here, not a waiting room.

How we work:

Hybrid, from our Wilmslow office and from home where appropriate, with a flexible working framework that lets you flex hours around business needs. 37.5 hour week. Focused technical work, uninterrupted.

Package:

Up to £50,000 depending on experience, plus bonus, pension, death in service, income protection, generous annual leave, and funded study with paid exam leave.

Our values:

Integrity, growth, simplicity, excellence. We work to high standards, we invest in people, and we do not take ourselves too seriously along the way.
