What You'll Do
- Assisting with the installation of heating, water, drainage and process pipework systems
- Learning how to measure, cut, bend, thread and assemble various types of pipework
- Installing pipe supports, brackets and containment systems
- Assisting with the installation of pumps, valves, plant room equipment and mechanical services
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- Using hand tools, power tools and specialist equipment safely and effectively
- Supporting pressure testing, commissioning and fault-finding activities under supervision
- Assisting with maintenance and repair work on existing systems
- Following health, safety and environmental procedures on site at all times
- Working on a variety of commercial and industrial projects, including schools, hospitals, offices, factories and manufacturing facilities
- Keeping work areas clean, organised and safe
- Attending college or training sessions and completing apprenticeship coursework to achieve your qualification
Training Outcome
The expectation is that, if the host company is happy with your performance and you successfully complete the apprenticeship, it will lead to permanent employment.
