Equifind have partnered with a boutique Capital Markets Broker who are seeking to hire a newly qualified Accountant (ACA) to report to the FC. The company is privately owned, has 55 people in the office, and the HQ is in London but they have global offices/operations. The team works in the office 4 days a week with the 5th day being work from home.

Objective of the Role: As the Broker gears up for growth, this role is a new addition to the team. The Accountant can therefore shape and mould the role. The role will be hands-on, helping cover AP/AR, month-end, management accounts, stats preparation, and some regulatory returns. You will report to the FC and work closely with the CFO.

Job Description:

  • Prepare financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Perform day-to-day accounting tasks, including journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and reconciliations, to ensure accurate and timely financial records.
  • Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring adherence to deadlines and accounting principles.
  • Oversee and review the process for completing global VAT returns.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting discrepancies and answer inquiries related to financial transactions.
  • Assist in the coordination and support of external audits, liaising with auditors and providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Assist in the preparation of periodic financial reports for management and stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations based on analysis.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance system efficiencies, and improve data accuracy and reporting capabilities.
  • Provide ad hoc projects and support to the wider teams as and when required.

Requirements:

  • The new Accountant/finance analyst ideally will be ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant.
  • A minimum of three years' experience - an audit/practice firm desired.
  • Strong Excel skills essential.
  • Very strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • A high level of determination, willingness, and flexibility to deliver to a high standard against tight deadlines.
  • Be able to present financial data to a high standard in a clear and concise format.
  • Collaborates across the organisation by communicating regularly and consistently to peers.
