Equifax is seeking a Technical Product Owner who is a master at bridging the desires of the customer with the capabilities of technology to remove barriers to software development. You will use your expertise to drive strategic conversations and enhance value for Equifax and its customers.

You will be responsible for grooming the product backlog and providing deep insight into the technical requirements of individual stories, ultimately creating a more efficient and impactful user experience.

What You Will Do

  • Connect with the Customer & Product Management
    • Understand the Stakeholders: Grasp the broader context of customer needs and build strong partnerships with key Engineering, QA, and Architecture teams.
    • Define the Problem: Participate in user, customer, and stakeholder interviews to define technical and business requirements.
    • Design Holistic Solutions: Articulate and decompose work into discrete increments that align with customer needs, providing clear guidance to Engineering and QA teams.
  • Contribute to the Plan and Roadmap
    • Solutioning & Estimation: Actively participate in epic decomposition, backlog grooming, and initial t-shirt sizing sessions. Ensure QA testing approaches and use cases are integrated into estimates.
    • Dependency Management: Identify, document, and manage dependencies required to deliver the roadmap by collaborating with dependent engineering and architecture teams.
    • Prioritization: Assess value versus effort to define the scope of quarterly increments and sequence work effectively along the critical path. Help drive Minimum Viable Product (MVP) definitions.
  • Manage & Prioritize Team Backlogs
    • User Story Creation: Review drafts, refine stories, and collaborate with Product Management for final review.
    • Sprint Planning: Maintain a prioritized backlog aligned with best practices. Create and ensure plans are in place for the current sprint and the subsequent two sprints.
    • Testing & Acceptance: Partner with QA and Engineering leads to define testing scope. Drive adherence to story acceptance criteria and provide final sign-off.
    • Demos: Prepare and present sprint and quarterly demos in partnership with Product Managers.
  • Apply Feedback & Lessons Learned
    • Capture Feedback: Document and synthesize feedback from demos into tangible work efforts for the backlog.
    • Delivery Retrospectives: Analyze team velocity, quality (bugs/incidents), and reasons for delays. Propose prioritized process changes with technology partners.
    • Monitor KPIs: Track metrics driving adoption success and propose changes to upcoming deliverables to continuously improve released value.

What Experience You Need

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline strongly preferred (equivalent experience may be considered).
  • Strong Product Owner experience within a cloud-based and/or SaaS environment.
  • Proven working experience using Agile methodologies, facilitating Agile ceremonies, and applying Lean product management principles.
  • Exposure to and experience tracking capacity against the budget of product initiatives.
  • Preferred: Working experience with data structures, data analytics, and AI concepts.
  • Preferred: Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strongly Preferred: Cloud certification.
