Therapeutic Riding Instructors use horseback riding and equine-assisted activities to help participants improve physical, emotional, cognitive, and social skills. Instructors create safe, engaging lessons that are adapted to each participant's unique goals and abilities while fostering confidence, independence, and connection through horses.
What You’ll Do
- Lead adaptive horseback riding lessons for children and adults.
- Develop participant-centered lesson plans and goals.
- Work alongside volunteers, caregivers, and support staff.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of participants and horses.
- Create a positive, encouraging learning environment.
- Track participant progress and celebrate milestones.
What We’re Looking For
- PATH, CHA, or comparable certification (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with individuals of varying abilities.
- Knowledge of horse handling, safety, and welfare.
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable teaching style.
Horsemanship Instructors teach participants the skills needed to safely and confidently interact with horses both on the ground and in the saddle. Through riding lessons, horse care education, groundwork, and hands-on learning, instructors help participants develop responsibility, confidence, and strong horsemanship foundations.
