ABOUT THE ROLE:
You will be part of our UK IE Digital team, working within an Agile Product Team to engineer solutions that power better experiences for millions of IKEA customers and co-workers. As a Software Engineer, you will design, develop and deliver high-quality software that solves real business challenges and creates value for our users. Working in a collaborative and agile environment, you will contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from design and coding to testing, deployment and continuous improvement. You’ll bring technical skill, curiosity, and problem-solving ability to build reliable, scalable, and innovative solutions that support IKEA’s digital future.
WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE:
- Experience in software development and engineering as part of an engineering team
- Solid programming ability and familiarity with software design principles
- Experience developing, testing and maintaining high-quality code
- Understanding of modern software engineering practices, including CI/CD and DevOps methodologies
- Experience working within Agile, Scrum or similar delivery frameworks
- Knowledge of automated testing, quality assurance and performance optimisation
- Curiosity to explore new technologies and continuously improve ways of working
- Effective collaboration and analytical skills with a focus on customer needs
- Solid experience using the following languages & frameworks:
- Node.JS
- TypeScript

- Azure SQL

WHAT YOU WILL DO DAY TO DAY:
- Design, develop and implement software solutions that meet business and customer needs
- Write, test and maintain high-quality, scalable and efficient code
- Contribute to software architecture and technical design decisions in line with engineering standards and best practices
- Develop and execute automated tests to ensure quality, reliability and performance
- Support deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement of digital products and services
- Work with modern engineering tools, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices to enable efficient delivery
- Explore and evaluate emerging technologies that can enhance innovation and productivity
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to continuously improve products, processes and customer experiences
- Work toward shared goals and stay engaged in your personal and professional growth
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- Starting Salary from £50,600 per annum based on experience
- Full-Time, 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Location: Service office Wembley - you will have a mix of working in the office, at home and your nearest IKEA unit, this can be discussed further during the application process.
