Role Overview
As a Pre-Sales Consultant within our SMB team, you play a critical role in helping prospects understand how Eque2 solutions address real operational and financial challenges across construction and maintenance businesses. Working closely with BDMs, SDRs, and Account Managers, you will:
- Uncover customer challenges and priorities
- Build clear, value-led solution narratives
- Deliver compelling product demonstrations aligned to customer outcomes
- Support opportunities throughout the full buying cycle
- Help existing customers realise additional value from the Eque2 platform
You will also contribute to continuous improvement by collaborating with Marketing, Product, and Customer Success to shape messaging, influence product development, and enhance the overall buyer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Product & Industry Expertise
- Develop deep knowledge across Eque2's SMB product portfolio, including construction accounting, job costing, contract management, and estimating solutions.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the UK construction and maintenance market, including workflows, regulations, and sector-specific challenges.
- Stay up to date with product enhancements, competitive positioning, and industry trends.
- Sales Cycle Engagement
- Partner closely with Sales teams to define customer requirements through structured discovery, guided questioning, and industry best practices.
- Create tailored demonstration scripts and solution narratives aligned to customer goals, ROI, and problem resolution.
- Deliver engaging software demonstrations via remote sessions and in-person meetings.
- Support the creation of value-based proposals and business cases.
- Assist with lightweight, SMB-appropriate proof-of-concept scoping where required.
- Customer Experience & Retention
- Support Account Managers in customer reviews, driving solution adoption, identifying risks, and uncovering expansion opportunities.
- Contribute to customer webinars, training sessions, and enablement content.
- Internal Collaboration
- Partner with Marketing on campaign messaging, product insights, and competitive intelligence.
- Create demo videos, product walkthroughs, and short-form digital content to support a digital-first sales strategy.
- Build and maintain competitor battle cards, objection-handling frameworks, and persona-based messaging.
- Provide structured feedback to Product Management to inform future roadmap decisions.
- Tools & Technology
- Use platforms such as Consensus, CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce or Dynamics), Microsoft Teams, video recording tools, and other digital selling technologies.
- Follow Eque2's pre-sales methodologies, discovery frameworks, and opportunity qualification processes.
Required Skills & Experience
- Essential
- Experience demonstrating, selling, supporting, or implementing software solutions, ideally in a B2B SaaS environment.
- Strong understanding of solution selling and buyer enablement, with the ability to clearly articulate business value.
- Confidence engaging with stakeholders at all levels, from operational users to financial decision-makers and business owners.
- Excellent presentation skills (remote and in-person), with the ability to simplify complex concepts and tell a compelling story.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, connecting business requirements with technical solutions.
- Highly organised, able to manage multiple opportunities in a fast-paced SMB environment.
- Self-motivated, with a commitment to continuous learning and development.
- Desirable
- Knowledge of UK construction or maintenance operations, including job costing, subcontracting, CIS, estimating, or service workflows.
- Experience with ERP, accounting, or construction-specific software solutions.
- Familiarity with Sage 50, Sage 200, Sage Intacct, or Xero.
- Experience creating video content such as screen recordings, walkthroughs, or narrated demos.
- Previous experience in a pre-sales role within an SMB sales model.
Travel: Predominantly remote demonstrations, with occasional onsite meetings or industry events.
