Equation, a well-respected Domestic Abuse charity, is looking for a new trustee with strong financial skills who shares our commitment to ending domestic abuse and sexual violence to join our board as Treasurer.

What are we looking for?
- Essential
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or significant relevant financial experience
- Ability to read and interpret financial statements and management accounts
- Strategic thinking and ability to see the bigger picture
- Good communication skills - able to explain financial information to non-finance colleagues
- Commitment to Equation's mission to end domestic abuse and sexual violence
- Willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to the role
- Desirable
- Experience of charity finance, including SORP accounting
- Previous trustee or board experience
- Experience of audit processes
- Knowledge of the voluntary sector or VAWG sector
- Local connections in Nottinghamshire
What will you be doing?
As Equation's Treasurer, you will play a vital role in maintaining the financial health of the charity. Working closely with the CEO and Finance Manager, the Treasurer will provide strategic financial oversight, ensure the board understands the charity's financial position and help the organisation manage its resources to effectively deliver its mission.
As Treasurer, you will:
- Provide strategic financial oversight
- Chair the Finance subgroup (meets quarterly)
- Present financial reports to the board
- Oversee annual accounts and audit
- Support the CEO and Finance Manager
For this reason, we are looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or someone with significant financial experience who can:
- Interpret financial statements and communicate clearly
- Provide strategic thinking and sound judgement
- Commit to our mission
Charity finance experience is desirable but not essential - we can provide training.
Time Commitment: Approximately 6-8 hours per month, 4 board meetings and 4 Finance subgroup meetings per year, plus preparation time and additional involvement around year-end and audit. We would be happy to support remote working for this role.
Our board, consisting of 2 co-chairs and 8 other members, works closely with the CEO and the Treasurer will further enhance this relationship ensuring financial stability is always at the forefront of decisions whilst allowing effective delivery of Equation's mission.
