Our expertise spans the design, construction, and maintenance of buildings and critical infrastructure worldwide. We have a great opportunity for a Street Lighting Supervisor to support our long term street lighting maintenance contract covering Kent. This position is based from our Sittingbourne office.

Role Overview

The Street Lighting Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of street lighting operations across Kent, with a focus on planned works and developer-related installations. This includes the replacement of lighting columns, signposts, and bollards, as well as ensuring developer works meet the required standards and specifications before adoption by Kent County Council (KCC). The role ensures all works are delivered safely, efficiently, within budget, and to the high-quality standards expected by KCC and the public.

Key activities

  • Supervise and coordinate planned street lighting and developer works, including column, signpost, and bollard replacements.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Schedule, allocate, and monitor workloads for operatives and subcontractors to achieve daily and weekly targets.
  • Liaise with Kent County Council engineers, developers, and internal teams to plan and deliver works programs.
  • Carry out site inspections, quality checks, and audits to ensure compliance with contract specifications and design drawings.
  • Manage and record progress, support the administrators with compensation events using Confirm.
  • Support the approval and adoption process for developer works, including site inspections, defect management, and certification.
  • Ensure materials, plant, and equipment are efficiently utilised and maintained.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to operatives.
  • Promote and enforce safe working practices, including carrying out toolbox talks and safety briefings.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • NRSWA Supervisor accreditation (essential).
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation or Highways Electrical Work (desirable).
  • Current ECS / CSCS card.
  • G39 certification (essential).
  • SMSTS or SSSTS (desirable).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
