Overview
As SHEQ Manager for EQUANS DES in the UK, you will drive safety, health, environmental and quality performance across renewable projects. You will partner with the head of SHEQ and cross-functional teams to maintain compliant systems, coach colleagues, and lead investigations to prevent incidents. You’ll develop contract-specific SHEQ Action Plans and use audits to continuously improve processes. This role offers a meaningful impact on safety culture and the UK energy transition within a global leader.

Responsibilities
- Oversee SHEQ management across designated operational areas, ensuring compliance with external and internal standards
- Collaborate with the head of SHEQ, other SHEQ Managers, and Central SHEQ to maintain robust systems meeting statutory and Equans obligations
- Ensure accurate recording of reportable data (Near Misses, Accidents, RIDDORs, HiPos, LTIs, Incidents, LSV/MSV) and provide coaching where necessary
- Develop and implement SHEQ Action Plans for each contract to foster safer workplaces and engage employees
- Utilize findings from SHEQ Audits to improve safety and quality, providing guidance to enhance processes
- Mentor Safety Ambassadors and Responsible Business Champions to promote Equans values
- Facilitate training initiatives and lead investigations with comprehensive reports and recommendations
- Support internal functions to ensure systems and resources to manage risks effectively
- Foster strategic relationships with regulatory bodies and industry forums
Key requirements
- NVQ 5/Diploma Level in Health and Safety management or equivalent
- Relevant experience within a SHEQ team
- Solid experience in construction, renewables, or project management sectors
- Proficiency in conducting complex systems audits, internal and external
- Up-to-date knowledge of UK legislation related to SHEQ
- Ability to work remotely and collaborate effectively within a team
