Equans is looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Swanage Court, Rotherham on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.

General Overview:

The Managing Quantity Surveyor is responsible for delivering all commercial operations on the repairs, maintenance, and investment works contract, to RMBC’s housing stock. The Managing Quantity Surveyor will oversee all commercial elements of the operational unit including management of commercial teams. Responsibilities include setting and improving business standards within the teams and ensuring key systems and processes are adhered to, protecting the company’s interests at all times whilst ensuring Equans' full contractual entitlement is recovered, increasing profitability whilst maintaining quality and customer relationships, and understanding, adhering to, and assisting with implementing the company SHEQ policy/strategy.

What will you deliver?

  • Line management responsibility for all QS’s within the operating team
  • Lead financial strategy at Contract Establishment stage by implementing, monitoring, and managing our desired approach with QS teams
  • Maximise profitability on all operational schemes by carrying out regular project performance reviews with the site teams and RD
  • Maximise variation and specification change opportunities on live schemes to ensure all opportunities of increased margins are identified and considered
  • Ensure all value is captured, inclusive of measuring and valuing all exclusion works using the agreed contract method
  • Overseeing and managing the submission of V.O's, quotations and estimates
  • Ensure sub-contract buying gains are maximized, working with the Regional director to ensure appropriate SC choices are made at contract set up
  • Establish accurate cost delivery data within the region, and work with estimating teams to ensure real delivery costs are incorporated into live tenders, attend financial tender adjudication reviews to discuss potential risk and opportunities at tender stage
  • Attend monthly senior commercial team meetings

  • Experience in Social Housing Responsive Maintenance is essential
  • Extensive experience within a Senior Quantity Surveying / Managing QS Role
  • Experience of forms of contracts, Such as TPC, NEC & JCT
  • Knowledge of a variety of commercial models, PPP, PPV, SOR’s
  • Excellent influencing & negotiating skills
  • Ability to critically analyse commercial reportage
  • Knowledge and execution of varying forms of contracts
  • IT skills – MS Office, Excel, Project, Word etc
