Equans is looking for a Payroll and Benefits Administrator to join the Employee Services team based from Quorum Business Park, Newcastle on a permanent basis. This is a full time working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

As a Payroll and Benefits Administrator, you will maintain effective procedures and processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness across all payroll and benefit services in line with agreed SLAs and KPI’s. The role requires someone with a strong aptitude for learning, a positive disposition and a can‑do attitude. The business has a complex organisational structure and related attributes for approximately 11,000 UK employees. You’ll be based at our brand new, super modern Shared Services office in Newcastle, which is a dynamic multifunctional operation where our people are committed to delivering great services that enable our business to meet its goals.

What will you deliver?

  • Ensure payroll and benefit processes are in line with current legislation.
  • Operate in line with payroll and benefit procedures and processes, including variable data input, processing the payroll cycle from input to BACS creation, absence administration (e.g. SSP, SMP, SAP, SPP), statutory and voluntary deductions from pay, liaising with line managers and HR partners to resolve employee queries, tax code changes, P45, P60 and RTI submissions, payroll and benefit reconciliations, annual pension returns, input pension amendments and auto‑enrolment, pension reconciliation and upload to provider portals, updating benefits portal for new starters or monthly amendments, and supporting the administrative activity of the annual benefits window to ensure payments and deductions are calculated and recorded in the system.

Who are we looking for?

  • Payroll software proficiency (SAP desirable)
  • High volume payroll experience preferred
  • Knowledge of multiple pension schemes
  • Knowledge of current payroll and benefit legislation
  • Confidentiality and discretion
  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Advanced skills and knowledge of Microsoft packages
  • Knowledge of current GDPR
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to liaise with line managers, HR Operatives and external providers

This role includes a Basic DBS check; therefore the ability to pass is essential.
