EQUANS is looking for a Mobile Electrician for our Rochdale and Oldham Schools contract. This permanent full‑time role (40 hours per week) will be based primarily in Oldham. Our offering includes a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview
The role focuses on developing, maintaining and improving electrical systems across the four schools in the Oldham & Rochdale area PFI estate. You will support GSHP, gas boilers and biomass systems, as well as perform general maintenance, small reactive and PPM electrical works day‑to‑day.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate the ability to maintain plant and equipment to agreed specifications and operation.
- Develop an in‑depth knowledge of the relevant individual contracts.
- Ensure paperwork is up to date and correctly completed.
- Ensure all jobs are closed down promptly.
- Carry out the defined planned maintenance regime for all contractual obligations within the School Buildings.
- Ensure Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) are in place.
- Issue relative working permits.
- Carry out repairs, reactive maintenance and minor installation works on plant.
- Attend, diagnose and repair faults with due regard to customer care in this specific environment.
- Carry out proactive plant monitoring activities to ensure efficient utilisation of plant and equipment.
- Interrogate operational information systems to support daily operations and fault diagnosis.
- Complete the relevant paperwork and report diligently.
- Any other relevant duties that may be required, some of which may be outside normal working hours.
- Maintain all documentation and records to the highest standard.
- Understand the contracts and obligations.
- Project a professional image of Equans to external and internal customers, including clear channels of communication.
- Other tasks as directed by Line Management.
- Operate in accordance with Best Practice, Equal Opportunities, recognise and value Diversity in the Workplace and demonstrate respect for others.
- Place the highest importance upon Equans Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Abide by Equans policies and procedures.
- Always represent Equans in a professional manner.

Qualifications or Required Experience
- 18th Edition essential, C&G 2391 advantageous.
- Fault‑finding and practical skills.
- Able to work unsupervised and function as part of a team.
- Very strong Excel and IT skills.
- Driving license essential.
- You must have evidence of the right to work in the United Kingdom.
