Equans Data Centers are seeking to appoint an Environmental Advisor to support the growth in our data centre sector.
Our commitment is to provide cutting edge solutions for our clients Data Center facilities.
We are recruiting an Environmental Advisor to work with our project team to provide support our aim towards decarbonisation.
Based on the construction sites, the successful candidate will be the main point of contact for all Environmental management within the Data Center sites.
This role will include regular travel to sites.
What you will deliver?
- Organise and arrange all site level environmental monitoring, measurement and reporting for all regulatory, compliance and business purposes
- Assist with the delivery of central carbon reduction targets for projects
- Implement waste reduction plans involving circular economy and waste diversion resulting in waste prevention
- Embed Sustainable practices on site delivering training and toolbox talks and support the identification and implementation of preventative measures
- Assist the project teams to achieve BREEAM/LEED rating and certification when required
- Provide guidance and ensure that Project Teams are effectively managing all relevant environmental aspects to reduce risk on site
- Act as a site level advisor on business related local and national environmental regulatory requirements
- Monitor and report on our environmental performance and regularly undertake site level inspections
- Assist in the preparation and review of project environmental documents
- Assist the Project Teams in the management and investigation of environmental incidents
- Complete regular internal environmental reports highlighting site performance against current KPI’s
- Collaborate with the central Environmental & Sustainability team in driving the environmental agenda by improving performance across the data center business area and companywide though written communications.
- Upskill and support teams, acting as a facilitator when delivering site based environmental training
- When required, act as an advisor to clients for any environmentally related issues or activities
- Review and discuss internal environmental reports highlighting site performance against current KPI’s
- Ensure that sites have all correct permits and licences for conducting any activities that have an environmental impact.

Who are we looking for?
- Previous experience as an Environmental Advisor or similar role
- Knowledge of the application of ISO14001
- Technical familiarity with environmental processes and assessments e. g. BREEAM/LEED knowledge and Advisory Professional certification
- Strong background in assessment of environmental hazards and understanding of the mechanisms of how to mitigate
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
- High level of personal drive and commitment with the desire to progress
- Effective communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organisation.
- Competent report writing skills
- Professional and pragmatic team player who can build and sustain effective working relationships
- Degree qualification in a relevant discipline e. g. Environmental Management /Sciences or Sustainability, with professional body membership (IEMA, IES or CIEEM) preferred
- Practitioner Membership with IEMA or similar professional membership, or working towards would be advantageous
- Experience of the Construction or a related industry would be desirable
- Willingness and ability to travel nationally across projects
