Equans Data Centers are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Authorising Engineer (AE) in Electrical Engineering to oversee and ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards. The role involves providing expert guidance on safe electrical systems, reviewing designs, conducting audits, and authorising personnel to perform electrical work.
What you will deliver:
- Act as the designated Authorising Engineer for electrical systems, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
- Review, assess, and approve electrical designs and installations.
- Provide route cause analysis of non-compliance incidents to minimize performance deductions.
- Investigate incidents, accidents and failures involving engineering systems.
- Conduct site audits, inspections, and assessments to ensure the safety and reliability of electrical systems.
- Lead and manage training sessions for electrical engineers and technicians, focusing on safety and compliance.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of electrical safety regulations, such as BS 7671, Electricity at Work Regulations, and others.
- Issue Authorised Person (AP) certifications for individuals based on competence and training.
- Provide expert advice on maintenance and operational procedures for electrical equipment.

Who we are looking for:
- Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field is desirable.
- Significant experience in managing electrical systems in industrial, or critical infrastructure environments.
- HV/LV Authorising Engineer certification or similar qualification.
- Strong knowledge of relevant regulations and safety standards (e.g., BS 7671, EAWR).
- Proven ability to manage teams and provide guidance on safety-critical operations.
- Experience of incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Familiarity with critical power infrastructure and high voltage (HV) systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on safety and reliability.
