Equans is a renowned energies & services contractor and a proud member of the Bouygues global industrial group. Our expertise spans the design, construction and maintenance of buildings and critical infrastructure worldwide. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our facilities team working on our Metropolitan Police South East London FM contract based at Sutton police station and covering Bromley and Lewisham police stations as required. This is a permanent full‑time role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00.
Key responsibilities
- Reporting to the M&E Supervisor.
- Provide the safe operation, planned and reactive maintenance of M&E plant and equipment across MET Police South East London sites.
- Carry out the installation of new M&E equipment as required (i.e. minor new works, refurbishment and capital works replacement programme).
- Investigate, troubleshoot and rectify defects for all M&E systems and associated plant/components.
- Oversee/escort any specialist contractor works as required.
- Proactively identify defects and faults outside of specialisation and escalating accordingly.
- Ensure prompt and accurate completion of all associated paperwork.
- Participate in the on‑call rota and out of normal working hours activity.
Skills & qualifications
- Must hold a recognised mechanical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualification to level 3 in a relevant mechanical discipline with suitable industry experience.
- Able to undertake unsupervised non‑routine maintenance and complex repair/installation work.
- Good communication skills and customer focused with a proactive, flexible, can‑do approach.
- Able to produce technical/incident reports.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures.
- Successful applicants will be subject to Metropolitan Police security vetting.
- Driving licence essential.
