Equans Digital has a very exciting opportunity for BMS Estimator where the postholder will be trained to provide estimates and support in the preparation of bids to win projects associated with critical Building Management System (BMS) infrastructure upgrades/enhancements across the commercial, retail, healthcare, education & government sectors. Equans Digital currently deliver project works ranging from 10k - 1.5m in singular size + variations via an evolving blend of inhouse delivery supplemented by a selection of specialist supply chain partners. With an aggressive growth strategy over the next 3 – 5 years, this role will be paramount in helping to define shape and grow the team to ensure we grow sustainably.

As a BMS Estimator at Equans Digital, you will eventually, once fully trained be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates and bids for Building Management System projects. Working closely with sales, project management, and technical teams, you will analyse project specifications, provide cost evaluation, and help lay the commercial foundation for successful project delivery. This role requires strong technical knowledge of BMS systems, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to produce detailed and clear quotations in line with customer and company expectations.

Key activities (this is reflective of what we expect once fully trained):

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for BMS projects including labour, materials, subcontractors, and equipment based on project documentation and specifications.
  • Develop and submit competitive and compliant tender packages responding to client requests for proposals (RFPs) and invitations to tender (ITTs).
  • Review and interpret project drawings, technical documentation, and specifications to produce comprehensive estimates.
  • Liaise with technical teams to clarify design and scope where necessary.
  • Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to inform estimating accuracy and value engineering opportunities.
  • Identify potential risks and cost drivers in projects and propose mitigation strategies to ensure commercial viability.
  • Act as a key contact for internal teams and clients during the estimating phase, providing clarification and supporting sales and project initiation activities.
  • Maintain thorough records of estimates, assumptions, and cost databases to support consistent and transparent estimating practices.
  • Prepare and submit accurate project estimates that support successful bid outcomes and project profitability.
  • Collaborate with sales, project management, and technical teams to ensure commercial and technical alignment.
  • UK-wide travel to client or project locations as required.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • City & Guilds or HNC Electrical Engineering or related qualifications.
  • Previous estimating experience.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Full UK driving licence.
