We have a great opportunity for a Business Development Manager within our Energy Solutions business at Equans to continue our drive to grow this crucial part of our business. Energy Solutions deliver and manage renewable infrastructure projects that help businesses and local authorities meet their energy resilience and net zero goals. From utility-scale solar farms and battery energy storage systems (BESS), rooftop PV, grid-scale storage to smart microgrid solutions, we provide fully integrated, renewable energy solutions.
Key Activities:
- Find, own and maintain customer relationships across the private and public sector and support them with deployment of energy solutions across all segments.
- Engage directly with clients at pre tender stage (NDAs, early clarifications and scoping discussions) to support with their structuring of projects.
- Lead the bid management process for selected opportunities, including structuring submission deliverables, coordinating Design, Procurement, Legal and Cost Estimation inputs, and ensuring governance requirements are met.
- Produce external facing material for your projects, including high quality proposals that exceed our customers’ expectations.
- Own customer relationships until EPC contract signature, including project management of Pre-Construction Services contracts, to ensure projects are technically and commercially suitable for subsequent EPC delivery.
- Support the negotiation of PCSA’s and EPC contracts, alongside legal and commercial colleagues.
- Manage the Equans internal governance process by structuring projects that are aligned with Equans’ golden rules.
- Lead the development of marketing collateral, thought leadership pieces and social media campaigns.
- Establish relationships with trade associations and extract value from these relationships.
- Collaborate with Equans UK, Equans Group, Bouygues Group and external partners to continually refine our delivery model.
- Keep the wider team up to date with market trends, policy landscape, competitors and public/private sector funding opportunities.
- Ensure opportunity data is accurately recorded in Salesforce and governance trackers, maintaining timely updates and dependencies. Support monthly reporting cycles and pipeline reviews.
Skills, qualifications & experience:
- STEM degree (BEng/MEng, HNC, or equivalent) preferred.
- Experience in business development or solution management in energy, engineering, or sustainability sectors, including managing bids in at least 2/3 of our market segments.
- Experience establishing, developing and maintaining customer relationships.
- Comfortable managing internal project teams and governance processes.
- Strong commercial acumen and experience negotiating complex contracts.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including C-suite engagement.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary bid teams and coordinating pre-construction activities.
- Experience with Salesforce.
