Equans is looking for an IT Solution Architect - Integrations to join our team on a 12 month fixed term basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.
We are seeking an experienced Integration Solution Architect with deep expertise in enterprise integration technologies and design patterns to lead the design and evolution of robust, scalable, and secure integration solutions across the organisation. In this role, you will be responsible for defining and delivering end-to-end integration architectures that enable seamless connectivity between business applications, data platforms, and external partners. You will leverage your strong technical experience in Middleware platforms alongside proven knowledge of file-based integration solutions and design patterns, to deliver efficient and resilient integration capabilities.
You will establish and promote best practices across a range of integration approaches, including API-led architectures, event-driven patterns, and batch/file-based processing, ensuring solutions are reusable, maintainable, and aligned to enterprise standards. Working closely with business stakeholders, application teams, and delivery partners, you will translate complex business requirements into well-architected integration solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements, including performance, security, scalability, and operational supportability. This role also plays a key part in shaping integration strategy, defining reusable patterns and standards, and guiding delivery teams to ensure consistent, high-quality implementation across the integration landscape.
What will you deliver?
- Work with teams across Applications, Integration, Data and Infrastructure.
- Architecture designs must be aligned to EQUANS UK and EQUANS Group technical strategy, principles, and standards.
- Work closely with members of the Architecture practice including Business Architecture & Business Analysis and other domain Solution Architects to align on architecture approach and solution options.
- Participate in different Architecture and Governance Forums to ensure reviews are carried out for all architecture and design activities.
- Being accountable for the delivery of high-quality architecture artefacts which clearly explain the technical strategy and rationale.
- Lead and facilitate requirements gathering and solution workshops with stakeholders from functional/technical subject matter experts as part of the Discovery, Assessment & Design and Planning phases.
- Communicate progress of issues, risks and findings from your work in appropriate documents and tailor the level of detail depending on audience.

- Strong understanding and practical application of integration design patterns, including:
- API-led connectivity (System, Process, Experience APIs)

- Publish/Subscribe and message-based integration
- Request/response and orchestration patterns
- Experience designing loosely coupled, reusable, and scalable integration architectures
- Experience integrating across Cloud (SaaS / PaaS) platforms, On-premises systems, Hybrid environments
- Understanding of integration challenges such as Latency, Data consistency, Security boundaries
API & Integration Strategy
- Experience defining and implementing API strategies and standards
- Knowledge of API lifecycle management, API security (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT), API versioning and governance
- Experience working with API gateways and developer portals
File Integration
- Strong understanding of file-based integration patterns, including:
- Batch processing (scheduled jobs, bulk data movement)
- Secure file transfer (SFTP, FTPS, managed file transfer)
- EDI / structured file formats (CSV, XML, JSON)
- Ability to identify appropriate use cases for file vs real-time integration approaches
Data Integration & Transformation
- Experience with Data mapping and transformation / Canonical data models / Data synchronisation strategies
- Understanding of data quality, consistency, and governance considerations
DevOps & Delivery Alignment
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines for integration deployment / Version control and release management / Testing approaches (unit, integration, contract testing)
- Engage the team throughout the analysis and design phase of the project with clearly documented outputs such as: Articulating approach, timescales, regular written & verbal updates, as-is systems landscape, and technical roadmap.
- Adherence to internal processes, policies, technical architecture, and risk frameworks.
