Overview

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Logistics Operative to join our Facilities Management team at a central government building in Westminster. This is a permanent role working 40 hours per week, from 08:00 to 16:30, Monday to Friday with a 30 minute unpaid break.

Responsibilities

• Reporting to the Logistics Manager.
• Assist in the delivery of the Logistics porterage service, following the goods in and scanning procedures and support the various mailroom and logistics scope of services.
• Provide Mail & Messenger porter services within the government contract.
• Deliver Ministers\’ newspapers and press cuttings.
• Collate and sort the incoming mail for each daily run, and deliver mail in accordance with agreed times.
• Assist with the scanning of pre-booked packages using mail room scanning machines; assist with the arrivals system and onward delivery of scanned packages.
• Collect and process all outgoing mail, using equipment such as franking machines.
• Assist with other duties within the general remit of the Logistics & Porters team as instructed by the Supervisor or Manager.
• Help support other mailroom duties, such as sorting and delivering customer stationery deliveries.
• Assist with all duties required to deliver an effective mail and messenger service on behalf of the client.
• Work 40 hours per week, from 08:00 to 16:30, Monday to Friday with a 30 minute unpaid break.

Person specification

• Must have worked in a similar role, ideally in a mailroom or postroom environment.
• Flexible attitude and adaptability are essential.
• Knowledge of X-ray machines.
• Able to work unsupervised.
• Good communication skills.
• Experience with postal equipment, radios and rapiscan machines would be desirable.
• Relevant health & safety training, e.g., IOSH, also desirable.
• Employment in this post is dependent upon obtaining security clearance, which requires 5 years\’ continuous residency in the UK and a valid British or EU passport.
