Equans is looking for an Electrician to join our team at Woodland View Hospital, Irvine on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package.
As an Electrician within our maintenance team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe, continuous, and efficient operation of electrical supplies, building systems, plant, and equipment at Woodland View Hospital. You will also provide support to other local EQUANS sites as needed. This role involves taking a proactive approach to planned and reactive maintenance, repair, and minor project works — including in complex hospital settings such as operating theatres and renal departments.
What will you deliver?
- Perform planned and reactive electrical maintenance on hospital systems including electrical distribution, generators, emergency lighting, fire alarms, AHUs, water systems, medical gases, and pressure systems, ensuring patient safety and operational continuity.
- Respond promptly and professionally to unplanned electrical faults or failures, adhering to Service Level Agreements to minimize disruption and avoid contractual penalties.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation such as Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and work reports to support safe and compliant work practices.
- Participate fairly in an on-call rota to provide 24/7 emergency response, ensuring continuous availability of critical services.
- Collaborate effectively with Facilities Supervisors, Equans colleagues, NHS clients, and external contractors, communicating respectfully and upholding Equans high standards of health, safety, and professionalism.

Who are we looking for?
- Completion of a recognised electrical apprenticeship with certification.
- At least 2 years of practical experience in electrical maintenance; experience in hospital environments is advantageous but not essential.
- Competency with relevant building service systems and specialist tools and test equipment.
- Willingness and ability to understand and apply relevant regulations and standards, including Scottish Health Technical Memoranda (SHTM), Permit to Work systems, and health & safety protocols.
- Current or willingness to undertake first aid training including CPR.
- This role includes a Disclosure Scotland PVG check therefore ability to pass is essential.
