Equans is looking for a Head Caretaker to join our team working in Waverley School, Yardley Green Road, Birmingham B9 5QA. This is a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary between £26,728.21 - £32,800.00 per annum and benefits package.
Shift times: Monday to Friday 8 Hour Shift between 6:00am - 19:00pm Rotating shift pattern. Occasional weekend work.
What will you deliver?
The Head Caretaker is responsible for managing the day-to-day running of the school premises where there are multiple caretakers. They do hands-on caretaking work while leading and guiding the caretaking team to keep the school safe, secure, and well maintained.

Who are we looking for?
Qualifications or Required Experience:
- Essential:
- Significant experience in caretaking, premises, or building maintenance
- Prior experience in supervising or leading a team
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and safe working practices
- Good practical skills in DIY, maintenance, and fault finding
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexible approach to working hours
- Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
- Desirable:
- Experience working in an education or PFI environment
- Knowledge of statutory compliance and school-specific requirements
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent qualification
- First Aid qualification
- Competency in using CAFM/helpdesk systems and Microsoft Office
