EQUANS are looking for a Mobile Multiskilled Engineer working on our HMCTS contract at Guildford Crown Court. This role would be permanent, full‑time (40 hours per week) and offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview

Equans provides technical and soft services to our client HMCTS across a large portfolio of buildings in the UK. We deliver low‑voltage electrical maintenance and installation services. Because of business growth, we are recruiting additional professionals to support these services.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a wide variety of fabric and limited engineering assets, ensuring safe, timely completion in accordance with contract specifications and Equans procedures.
  • Ensure routine PPM is carried out to the electrical infrastructure and plant following Site task schedules and CAFM.
  • Resolve reactive tasks and proactively highlight improvement opportunities.
  • Swiftly remediate plant faults and defects to maintain serviceable order.
  • Provide suitable spares for maintenance and reactive works.
  • Provide parts lists and estimated timescales for remedial works.
  • Complete all relevant paperwork/CAFM for PPM, reactive and breakdown works and pass it promptly to the contract administrator.
  • Prepare and use Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks to ensure safe working practices.
  • Develop good working relationships with all Equans staff, subcontractors and client representatives.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment, wearing uniform and PPE at all times.
  • Keep up‑to‑date plant logs.
  • Supervise and monitor subcontractor works while on site.
  • Ensure awareness and compliance with contractual KPIs/SLA’s.
  • Maintain CAFM system (e.g., PlanOn) with accurate data for PPM and reactive tickets.
  • Operate Permit to Work systems per Equans technical and SHEQ processes and client requirements.
  • Carry out any other tasks directed by the account management team.
  • Provide engineering support in emergency situations to ensure business and operational continuity.
  • Obtain technical appointments as required (e.g., LVCP/LVAP/HVAP) and issue PTW to subcontractors and staff.
  • Ensure compliance of all self‑delivered and subcontracted maintenance, testing and inspection activities with BS7671.

Impact

We need a fully reliable and competent electrician who can work independently, oversee subcontractors, and produce high‑quality reports. The role is the face of Equans, requiring a smart appearance and effective communication with customers.

Complexity

The successful candidate must fault‑find, diagnose and rectify complex electrical faults independently, possess strong knowledge of electrical systems, and develop switching schedules and safety documentation for shutdowns. Planning and overseeing electrical shutdowns for maintenance or testing is essential.

Qualifications or Required Experience

  • Relevant experience in a demanding high‑voltage or low‑voltage electrical maintenance role.
  • Full clean UK driving licence.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or equivalent (e.g., City & Guilds Technical Certificate in Electrical).
  • Knowledge of the 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations.

Desired but not essential

  • IPAF certification.
  • Plasma certification.
