Responsible for the supervision of sub‑contractors delivering a wide range of project works. Responsible for the efficient use of resources and ensuring that job planning, appointments, materials, plant and equipment are effectively utilised and continuously improved in accordance with service delivery targets. The Project Site Manager is also responsible for the management of health & safety on all projects and the necessary completion, snagging and handover of all projects. The principle responsibility of the Construction Site Manager is to achieve the target contributions by managing the contract/project in accordance with the contract documents and programme. Responsible for ensuring that the project is delivered on time, within budget and to the agreed quality. To understand, implement and adhere to the company SHEQ policy/strategy, CDM and ensure all employees reporting to you do the same and are responsible for ensuring that SHEQ requirements are upheld to the highest of standards at all times. Equans is looking for a Construction Site Manager to join our team in Birmingham on a 6‑month fixed term contract. This is a full‑time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
Responsibilities
- Support the Project Managers in compiling all pre‑start information
- Provide a structured approach to project planning, incorporating health and safety, execution methods and quality controls
- Provide project and weekly programme information and key performance indicators and feed back into monitoring and reporting systems
- Provide project direction, focus and consistency across the team and project
- Supervise the Site Team in all areas
- Address health and safety issues
- Overall responsibility for site safety, ensuring compliance with SHEQ procedures and HSE requirements
- Manage quality control through a structured monitoring process and auditing
- Maintain liaison with the client on both a formal and informal basis
- Apply for all licences, permits etc. and ensure they are in place to execute the works correctly
- Ensure site set‑up works comply and all welfare facilities are provided
- Co‑ordinate with sub‑contractors and appoint them in conjunction with the Contracts Manager and Commercial Team
- Attend, prepare and report for all meetings relating to the project
- Understand how the job is priced to enable taking full benefit of opportunities for variations, changes to specification or scope of works to maximise profit
- Ensure systems are put in place in accordance with company procedure and policy to ensure works are completed in accordance with the company\'s values
- Endeavour, wherever possible, to resolve difficulties in a non‑adversarial manner
- Understand the commercial aims of the project and business plan objectives
- Provide key information to the Project team to enable high levels of financial control
- Provide absence cover in accordance with your job role and position within the organisation
- Recommend necessary changes to improve performance based on analysis of weekly/daily key performance indicator statistics
Qualifications
- ONC National Certificate in Building Studies or equivalent experience
- Scaffold Inspection
- First Aid at Work
- Gas Safety Awareness

- Safe Working at Height
- SMSTS
- City and Guilds Trade qualification if applicable (Desirable)
- Microsoft Office or other relevant IT related qualification (Desirable)
- Current valid driving licence
