We are seeking a Testing and Commissioning Manager to oversee the testing, commissioning, and optimization of all systems and equipment, ensuring they perform at peak efficiency.
The Testing and Commissioning Manager will oversee and manage the testing, commissioning, and operational handover of solar energy systems from our London office with site visits to projects in the UK and Europe. Site visits for this position will typically extend beyond a few weeks, often lasting between 2 to 3 months, allowing for thorough testing, commissioning, and oversight of project milestones.
The role involves coordinating with various teams to ensure that all electrical, monitoring and mechanical systems are properly tested, commissioned, and fully operational according to project specifications and industry standards. This is a critical role in ensuring the successful transition from construction to operation.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and manage comprehensive testing and commissioning plans for solar, battery storage and MV/HV substations installations, ensuring compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
- Accountable for the Testing & Commissioning budget as defined on project basis.
- Work closely with engineering, construction, and operations teams to schedule and execute testing and commissioning activities, both remotely and on site.
- Prepare and maintain detailed records of all testing procedures, results, and commissioning activities, ensuring all documentation meets regulatory and project requirements.
- Oversee the testing of electrical and mechanical systems, including inverters, AC & DC cables, MV and HV switchgears, Power Transformers, Protection & Control systems, SCADA & monitoring systems and Grid Connection testing ensuring full functionality and safety compliance.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues that arise during testing and commissioning, providing solutions to ensure smooth operational handover.
- Conduct site visits to oversee testing and commissioning activities, ensuring all systems are operating as expected prior to handover.
- Provide regular updates to project stakeholders, including senior management, contractors, and clients, on testing progress, results, and any identified issues.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in an electrical/testing and commissioning role.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the renewable energy sector.
- Proven track record in electrical plant commissioning and Inverter commissioning.
- Experience with substation commissioning is considered an asset.
- Proven ability to manage multiple teams and projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in commissioning software and tools, SCADA knowledge considered an asset.
- Ability to work in both office and field environments for commissioning activities and inspections.
- Open to travel to site for extended periods time especially during the testing and commissioning phase.
