Equans is looking for a Mechanical Ventilation Engineer to join our team based at the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital in Smethwick on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a salary of £35,000 per annum and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

  • Assist the Assistant Technical Services Manager who holds the ventilation appointed persons position.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the ventilation system within the hospital.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of each air handling unit which involves the monthly inspections and quarterly cleans.
  • Cleaning of the grills/louvers site wide and also any other mechanical plantroom tasks that management deem a requirement.
  • As some of the air handling units feed various sensitive departments such as operating theatres, out of hours working will be involved.
  • Undertake a proactive role in responding to reactive jobs to complete diagnostic, fault finding and repair to complex mechanical systems in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures and in compliance with legislation and guidance.
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks to services across site on various aspects of the building services in accordance with the PPM programme and personal competence and training.

Who are you?

  • Previously worked within a maintenance environment.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of a range of complex mechanical systems including but not limited to ventilation, pumps, compressors, boilers, medical gases, heating systems, domestic hot and cold-water systems.
  • Recognised apprenticeship in relevant engineering discipline to City & Guilds level.
  • Previous Competent Person experience involving but not limited to HVAC.
  • Prepared to work a flexible shift system including nights.
  • Possess a current valid driving licence (Desirable).
  • Previously worked within a healthcare maintenance environment (Desirable).
  • Previous Authorised Person experience involving but not limited to HVAC (Desirable).

This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
