Equans is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our team at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) in Smethwick.

This is a full‑time role working 40 hours per week, with a salary band of £32,000 - £35,000 per annum plus benefits.

What will you deliver?

  • Undertake a proactive role in responding to reactive jobs to complete diagnostic, fault finding and repair to complex mechanical systems in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures, and in compliance with legislation and guidance.
  • Respond to BMS alerts and phone calls during night shift, acting as the initial point of contact.

Assess the nature of the issue, allocate the task to the appropriate team member, and complete the necessary documentation.

Ensure all records are handed over to the Helpdesk team at the start of their shift to support effective service continuity.

  • Obtain Competent Person status following training and instruction for systems such as low voltage electrical systems, access control systems, alarm systems and medical gas installations.
  • Undertake the role of Authorised Person following appropriate training and familiarisation.
  • Work on the following but not limited to: emergency lighting, nurse calls, general electrics, fire alarms.

Who are you?

  • City and Guilds levels 2 and 3
  • 18th Edition
  • Previously worked within a maintenance environment
  • Previously worked within a healthcare maintenance environment (Desirable)

This role includes a DBS Standard check; therefore, the ability to pass is essential.
