With a rich history of excellence in designing, constructing, and maintaining buildings and critical infrastructure worldwide, we are now offering an exciting new opportunity to work at the Huntsman plant in Redcar. Equans Embedded Energy operates multiple customer sites with large‑scale embedded energy capacity across the UK, providing specialist management of onsite generation for industrial processes and the ability to export to the Grid. We combine multiple technologies to meet our customers’ specific needs, and provide design, build, operate and maintenance services. Our skills and expertise can help industrial businesses to achieve their carbon reduction goals.

The EC&I Engineer will be responsible for the reliable and continual operation of the plant, including steam boilers, water treatment plant steam compressor and air‑cooled condensers, and ancillary equipment in line with site load requirements, ensuring the safe operation and performance of the assets.

Key activities:

  • Ensure low levels of breakdowns caused by EC&I component failure
  • Competent Person High Voltage beneficial
  • Deputise for Regional Operations Manager as required
  • Supervision of the site operation & maintenance team
  • Lead the organisation of complex maintenance tasks
  • Managing of work parties that may include colleagues
  • Ensures compliance with relevant legislation and codes of practice to ensure safe operation of plant
  • Maintain records of work and site technical library
  • Audit of site stocks
  • Responsible for all Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Systems on site
  • Plant availability is high as reactive maintenance is carried out in a thorough and timely manner
  • Planned outages run smoothly, and breakdown time is minimised through well‑controlled and available spare parts
  • Audits run smoothly through high levels of record keeping of both maintenance activities and any safety documents produced
  • Safety levels on site are maintained to a high standard through well‑controlled work on EC&I systems and timely reaction to unsafe situations
  • EC&I work is thorough and complete due to well‑kept and up‑to‑date schematics, SOPs and manuals
  • Upkeep of site Computerised Maintenance Management System
  • Recognised Electrical/Controls and Instrumentation specific qualification, HNC/BTEC City and Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Computer literacy and basic IT skills
  • Proven Operational & Maintenance experience of Utility Plant including Generation Equipment
  • Management of Contractors
  • Previous experience in a customer focused environment
  • Experience with Low Voltage systems as an Authorised Person (SAP)
  • Fault finding on complex systems
  • Use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems
