EQUANS are looking for a Joiner working on our Newcastle Schools contract in Newcastle. This role would be a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview:
- Assist the operational team in the day to day maintenance of six busy schools.
- Ensure that all joinery-related maintenance, repairs, and minor works across the six school sites are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
- Attend reactive calls on CAFM (Maximo) system and ensure Reactive and PPM jobs are closed out in a timely manner.
- Collaborate and co-operate with the partners and colleagues to deliver a customer focussed service.
- Any other duties as required responding to the operational needs of the schools.
- Flexible support across the sites.
- Must hold a full and valid UK driving licence, as the role requires regular travel between locations to carry out maintenance tasks.
- Liaise and undertake duties at other projects as directed.
Impact:
To assist with the organisation of maintenance repairs and inspection of building, mechanical and electrical services, associated systems, plant and equipment in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures. Position will be based in the North East.
Complexity:
Assisting the operational team with the organisation of maintenance, repairs, testing and inspection of building, mechanical and electrical services, associated systems, plant and equipment in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures. Reviewing and filing of Technical reports in the relevant locations as defined by EQUANS Technical Compliance procedures.
Qualifications or Required Experience:
- Basic knowledge of facilities management maintenance.
- Qualified joiner/carpenter (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent) or relevant experience.
- Proven experience in joinery, ideally within a school, public building, or similar environment.
- Strong understanding of health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Good problem solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate clearly with staff, students, and contractors.
- Repairing and installing doors, frames, locks, and ironmongery.
- Building or repairing shelving, storage units, and classroom furniture.
- Maintaining skirting boards, architraves, and internal woodwork.
- Fitting noticeboards, whiteboards, and classroom fixtures.
- Support planned preventative maintenance across the school site.
- Respond to reactive maintenance requests in a timely manner.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and safeguarding standards.
- Assist with minor general maintenance tasks (e.g., basic plumbing, painting, or repairs) when required.
- Work collaboratively with the site team, contractors, and school staff.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and workshop areas to a high standard.
- Contribute to the security and safe operation of the school buildings.
- Have a clean DBS check.
