With a hard line into the Senior FBP for DES Services, and a dotted line into Director for Embedded Energy, this role is key on the SLT for the Embedded Energy section of the division. This role is the most senior Finance role in Embedded Energy, and will work with the Director and Senior FBP to establish and maintain financial and management procedures, whilst formulating strategic plans to feed into the newly formed Services section of the D&ES Division. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and governance requirements and provide financial advice, guidance and support to colleagues to enable them to make good decisions and meet business objectives. Produce insights and clarity around data and performance, to help drive the business to achieve potential in both the short and medium term.

Key activities:

  • Be a key member of D&ES Embedded Energy SLT, playing an active and key role in setting strategy and vision.
  • Business partner to Director of Embedded Energy, provide thought leadership, act as business conscience, challenge the status quo.
  • Support the wider D&ES Services business as required by the Senior FBP.
  • Monitor business performance and provide accurate and timely financial reporting and insights/guidance to D&ES Services MD, Senior FBP D&ES Services, and D&ES Divisional FD.
  • Ensure alignment with Divisional and UKBU strategy and agenda, ensuring that both Divisional and UKBU Finance requirements are met.
  • Test the financial impact of proposed strategic objectives, validate the authenticity of forecasts and clarify the full impact of cost savings.
  • Manage the financial reporting and administration of legal entities as required.
  • Accountable for the preparation of the company budget and rolling forecasts, including monthly flash results, and monthly business performance reviews.
  • Report on variances from the established budget and rolling forecasts, and the reasons for those variances including reporting and KPI analysis, and including suggested corrective actions and options to mitigate.
  • Formulating strategic and long-term business plans.
  • Lead the preparation of monthly analysis of the financial statements including variance analysis providing explanations and business solutions to help mitigate the risks.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent), with post qualification experience.
  • Experience with SAP and BPC.
  • Advanced Excel skills, ability to work with complex formulas and pivot tables – and ability to lead teams through changes to process and approach.
  • Power BI experience preferable.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in team leadership, and staff management.
  • Strong skillset in Balance sheet Analysis.
