Equans is looking for a Security Officer to join our team based out of 9 Maxim Park, Eurocentral, Motherwell, ML1 4WQ on a permanent, full‑time basis (42 hours per week). Salary £12.71 per hour and benefits package.

Supported sites:

  • Athena – 5 Dovecote Road, Eurocentral, Motherwell, ML1 4GP
  • Bathgate – 39 Inchmuir Road, Bathgate, EH48 2EP

Shift Pattern: 12‑hour shifts, 4 on / 4 off; alternating days and night shifts.

Role Overview

The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for the organisation’s employees, visitors, and assets. This role involves monitoring premises, enforcing security policies and procedures, and responding promptly to incidents to minimise risk and ensure safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patrol and monitor assigned areas to prevent and detect signs of intrusion, unauthorised access, or suspicious activity.
  • Control access to company premises by verifying credentials and issuing visitor passes.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and security systems to ensure operational readiness.
  • Monitor security cameras and alarm systems to identify potential threats or breaches.
  • Maintain detailed logs and reports of daily activities, incidents, and observations.
  • Enforce company policies, safety regulations, and local laws to uphold a secure environment.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, emergency responders, and internal teams during incidents or investigations.
  • Provide assistance and clear guidance to employees and visitors regarding safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Good understanding of security systems, CCTV, and access control technologies is a plus.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred.
  • Valid security officer licence or certification, as required by local regulations.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Physically fit and able to stand, walk, or patrol for extended periods.
  • Clean driver’s licence.
  • Evidence of the right to work in the UK.
