EQUANS are looking for a Resident Mechanical Engineer in Macclesfield for our Alderley Park contract.
This role would be a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week.

General Overview
- Ensure that reactive tasks throughout the sites are completed and be proactive in highlighting areas where improvements can be made.
- Ensure that suitable consumables are available to carry out both maintenance and reactive works. To provide parts lists and estimated timescales to carry out remedial works.
- Ensure that all relevant paperwork/CAFM is completed regarding planned and reactive activities and that it is passed without delay to the contract administrator.
- Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are prepared and used for all tasks undertaken to ensure safe working practices.
- To develop a good working relationship with all members of Equans staff, subcontractors and the client representatives.
- Ensure the provision of a Safe and Healthy working environment. To always include the wearing of uniform and PPE.
- Ensure the professional image of Equans is presented to clients at all times
- Ensure that all plant rooms under the responsibility of Equans are kept in a clean and tidy condition.
- To undertake lone working when and where required, subject to passing satisfactory training.
- Ensure assigned tasks are actioned and completed as appropriate.
- Ensure an awareness and compliance to the contractual KPI’s/SLA’s.
- Ensure CAFM system, e. g. Planon , is kept up to date and that PPM and reactive tickets are closed out with accurate data captured.
- To carry out any other task as directed by the account management team.
- Client/Customer
- Respond in a timely manner to verbal and written requests
- Production of information for quotations
- Helpdesk – PPM
- Support the Helpdesk as required when reporting or updating planned and reactive activities
- Be available for out of hours call-out support for the contract if required
- Compliance
- To gain Technical Appointments as required e. g. LVCP and Water Hygiene CP to permit Lamp changing and L8 activities e. g. tap flushing
- Produce Condition / Dilapidation Reports as required for fabric assets
- Ensure supervisor is informed immediately if dangerous circumstances occur
- SHEQ
- Comply with requests for information from SHEQ manager
- Ensure you work to company health and safety policy
- Ensue PPE is safe to use
- Report accident and near misses in a timely manner
- Ensure your test equipment is within calibration
- Ensure you follow Method Statements & Risk Assessments for all works
Impact
Working to high standard of service, we require a fully reliable and competent Handyman/Fabric Tech who can work on own initiative, within a team or oversee subcontractor’s, producing good quality reports on their findings and work.
The role will involve being the face of EQUANS so smart appearance and being able to discuss findings with others including customers is required.
Complexity
The successful candidate will have the ability to work unaided and build rapports with end users and customers, promoting EQUANS’ values.
Have an excellent knowledge of Mechanical and plumbing .
Have an eye for detail and be conscious of quality standards.
Qualifications or Required Experience
- Recognised Electrical engineering qualification essential.
- City & Guilds 2391/2394/2395 (Desirable)
- Obtain AP status within 3 months (EQUANS LV and Mechanical rules)
- Experienced fault-finding skills in BMS, LTHW systems, CLTHW systems, pumps, motors, HVAC, LV power systems,
- Experience in working with Cooling towers (Desirable)
- IPAF Certificated for 3a & 3b machines (Desirable)
- Experience in fault finding of BMS
- An understanding of the L8 ACOP
- A robust understanding of Health and Safety is required.
- Knowledge of the Permit to Work system & experience issuing PTW (Desirable).
- To maintain effective communication with the customers at site level
- Always ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements
- To carry out any other reasonable tasks that may be required to support the account and the business in general.
- Ensure compliance with contract KPIs and SLAs with the support of the Engineering Supervisor.
