The Power Station Manager plays a pivotal leadership role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of Sullom Voe Power Station. Reporting to and supporting the Regional Operations Manager, the Power Station Manager is accountable for the effective delivery of all operational and contractual obligations under the EnQuest agreement, ensuring alignment with client expectations, corporate standards, and regulatory requirements.
This role provides strategic and operational leadership across multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, operations, maintenance, and technical support functions. A key responsibility is to foster a high-performance culture focused on safety, reliability, and operational excellence, while ensuring effective communication and collaboration across site teams and with external stakeholders.
Key activities:- Ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all power station assets in line with contractual obligations to EnQuest.
- Provide day-to-day leadership across engineering, operations, and maintenance functions to deliver reliable generation and asset availability.
- Lead the implementation of operational strategies that align with long-term asset performance and business objectives.
- Support the Regional Operations Manager in the delivery of all commercial and technical aspects of the EnQuest contract.
- Ensure contract KPIs, service levels, and reporting requirements are met, escalating issues as required.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a key point of contact for site performance and issue resolution.
- Lead the development and management of the site budget, including cost forecasting, tracking, and variance analysis.
- Identify and deliver cost-saving and efficiency opportunities without compromising safety or quality.
- Support procurement and contract decisions for site operations, ensuring best value and adherence to financial controls.
- Own the site risk register and ensure risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated in a timely and systematic manner.
- Lead emergency response preparedness and ensure all personnel are trained in procedures and response roles.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory, environmental, and statutory requirements, including PSSR and site CoW systems.
- Promote and lead a positive safety culture across all levels of the organisation, with visible and consistent HSEQ leadership.
- Chair or support HSEQ working groups, toolbox talks, and safety stand-downs to drive engagement and continuous improvement.
- Ensure the effective implementation of all site HSEQ policies, procedures, and audit actions.
- Oversee site planning and coordination of maintenance, outages, and improvement projects to minimise disruption and maximise plant availability.
Qualifications:
- Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (SCQF Level 9+ / NVQ Level 6+ / Bachelor's Degree).
- Recognised Health, Safety & Environmental qualification, such as NEBOSH National General Certificate or NEBOSH Diploma.
- IOSH Membership at Certified Member (CertIOSH) level or Chartered Member (CMIOSH) level, demonstrating recognised professional standing in health and safety leadership.
- Site Controller appointment (by Client) to their permit to work system.
- Internal or Lead Auditor Certification for ISO standards: e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
- Extensive experience in power generation or high-risk industrial environments, ideally in a leadership or senior operational role.
