Health & Safety Lead – Equans to join the team in London on a permanent basis.

This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week.

The post holder will provide strategic guidance and leadership to ensure that the Sustainable FM meets its statutory safety requirements and to develop and implement industry leading responsible business initiatives.

This role will identify and deliver solutions to improve operational safety, health, environment & quality (SHEQ) in contracts in the part of Sustainable FM that they are assigned to.

Working closely, and in partnership, with the operational teams and the SHEQ Projects and the SHEQ Solutions team.

This role will ensure the EQUANS objectives & SHEQ culture are embedded within sites and contracts.

What will you deliver?

  • Management of the SHEQ Team across the Operational area to ensure all work is undertaken to external and internal standards and guidelines
  • Work with the Health and Safety Director, SHEQ Solutions, SHEQ Projects and Central SHEQ to develop and maintain adequate systems to meet all statutory and EQUANS obligations
  • Ensure all reportable data (Near Misses, Accidents, RIDDORs, Hi Pos, LTI’s, Incidents, LSV/MSV) is recorded accurately on the contract – utilising SHEQ Team members to verify data accuracy and coach sites where required
  • Establish SHEQ Action Plans for each contract with the support of the SHEQ Projects and SHEQ Solutions team – these outputs will deliver safer workplaces, improved employee engagement, culture and support our work‑winning activity as models of best practice
  • Act on the findings of SHEQ Audits – providing feedback on trends and investigation of preventative measures
  • Develop and engage with the Safety Ambassador programme
  • Lead by example in following the company’s Fundamentals and business objectives
  • Utilise Sustainable FM resources (such as training trackers) to ensure that all colleagues within the area have the appropriate H&S & Quality training, qualifications and development
  • Lead key investigations and liaise with stakeholders, ensuring detailed investigations are undertaken and full reports/recommendations are provided to the divisional boards
  • Hold close out meetings where applicable, to ensure incidents/ investigations are fully closed and firm action plans with recommendations are presented to the Accident Incident Review boards to prevent further occurrences across the division and UKBU
  • Support other internal functions to ensure systems and resources are appropriate to manage the risks across the area
  • Align contracts to the Divisional Reporting tools (where possible) to release Operational SHEQ Resource
  • Form strategic relationships with the HSE/EHO’s and other appropriate industry forums
  • Support key bids, attend tender interviews, lead competitive dialogue in the bid process to demonstrate that H&S is top the agenda
  • Effective management of direct reports
  • Working as a team with other Sr Managers in Sustainable FM & SHEQ, functions and operations to ensure a positive Health & Safety culture, compliance and management system across the area BU
  • Provide innovation and market leading solutions, delivering continuous improvement and data led focus on safety and business improvement

Who are we looking for?

  • Previous experience of a senior Health and Safety role within the construction, energy sector, FM or related industries
  • Understanding of construction (CDM), energy and FM technology and methods
  • Demonstrable experience relevant SHEQ legislation
  • People management
  • Membership of IOSH
