Equans is looking for a Commercial Manager to join our team in Lewisham on a permanent basis. The full-time role is 37.5 hours per week and offers a competitive salary, a company vehicle or allowance, a bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.

The Commercial Manager will serve as the commercial resource supporting the operational team across a range of Healthcare PFI contracts and partnerships. They will provide contract commercial management, profit improvement, and compliance focus. In addition, they may support growth within the sector on existing contracts and new business development initiatives aimed at expanding the suite of contracts in the region. The role requires managing numerous stakeholder relationships, including client representatives, Equans operational teams (Contracts, risk, finance, HR, etc.), and other colleagues. Senior-level dialogue and communication skills are essential.

What will you deliver?

  • Identifying, monitoring, and reporting on risks.
  • Supporting the management and mitigation of risks at all levels (operational, financial, commercial, technical, etc.).
  • Managing the jeopardy management process.
  • Managing variation/change control.
  • Maintaining a repository for confidential/commercially sensitive information.
  • Leading governance within the contracts to ensure contractual requirements are met.
  • Ensuring awareness of contractual responsibilities among all Equans colleagues (including deliverables, scope, etc.).
  • Assisting in finding efficiencies and service optimisation.
  • Negotiating, on an equitable basis, internally and externally to minimise business risk.
  • Leading dispute resolution activity across the relevant contracts or providing thorough input.
  • Embedding a contract review and governance framework on all contracts.
  • Mitigating key risk areas reactively and providing support to Finance and Operations for timely resolution.
  • Ensuring Equans’s Values are fully understood, adhered to and promoted across the business to guarantee safe, compliant and consistent working practices.
  • Supporting identification, management, and mitigation of risks at all levels associated with bidding new contracts.

Who are we looking for?

  • Proven commercial experience within a similar industry sector (FM/PFI)
  • Degree or diploma in Surveying (Building/Quantity) or the Built Environment (FM, Land)
  • Understanding and practical application of UK commercial law (Construction Act, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent financial acumen, able to analyse complex data accurately
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Sound understanding of risk analysis/management
  • PC literate, with knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • Thorough knowledge and experience of Business Assurance systems
