Equans are recruiting for a Trainee Site Supervisor to be based in Leeds. This is a full-time permanent role working 39 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and package.

General Overview

The Trainee Supervisor supports site supervisory functions within a UK construction environment, assisting in overseeing construction activities to ensure safe, efficient, and quality delivery of projects. This position is responsible for learning and gradually taking on supervisory duties, supporting the management of teams and resources on site under the guidance of experienced supervisors or managers. The role focuses on developing leadership and technical skills necessary to progress towards full supervisory responsibilities.

What will you deliver?

  • Assist in coordinating site operations to ensure compliance with project schedules, health & safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Support the supervision and motivation of site operatives and subcontractors to achieve operational targets.
  • Monitor work progress and report on site activities, challenges, and compliance issues to line management.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and site inspections to support a strong safety culture.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to labour, materials, and site incidents in line with company procedures.
  • Liaise with project managers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth workflow.
  • Contribute to identifying opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.

Who are we looking for?

Essential:

  • GCSE’s or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English
  • Some prior exposure to construction site work (e.g. apprenticeship, labouring or site trainee)
  • Basic health and safety awareness certification (e.g. CITB health and safety test)
  • Basic IT literacy (email, reporting tools)
  • Good communication, teamwork, willingness to learn and take direction

Desirable:

  • Relevant NVQ level 2 in construction or equivalent
  • Experience of understanding of supervisory practices or site safety procedures
  • CSCS card or site supervisor safety training
  • Familiarity with construction management software
  • Leadership Potential, problem solving aptitude
