Equans is looking for a motivated and detail-driven Trainee Estimator to join our Pre-Construction team based in Hatfield. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or develop a career in estimating within the construction and refurbishment sector. You’ll support the Estimating function in producing accurate and competitive tender submissions, working closely with Senior Estimators, Operations teams and the wider supply chain. You’ll gain hands-on experience across the full tender lifecycle — from site surveys and take-offs through to adjudication and submission.
Responsibilities
- Estimating & Tender Support
- Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates for tender submissions
- Carry out quantity take-offs from drawings
- Help price works using competitive market rates
- Support the preparation of tender documentation
- Tender Process Coordination
- Arrange tender adjudication meetings
- Ensure key stakeholders are notified in advance
- Assist in preparing tender abstracts
- Support pricing reviews and amendments
- Supply Chain & Quotations
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers
- Collate and review subcontract quotations
- Check compliance of submitted quotations
- Build relationships with manufacturers and supply chain partners
- Site & Client Engagement
- Attend and help coordinate site visits and surveys
- Liaise with consultants and operational teams
- Support post-tender queries and clarifications
- Maintain professional relationships with prospective clients
- Administration & Compliance
- Ensure all tender documents are completed and submitted on time
- Assist with submission packs and supporting documentation
- Follow competition law and company compliance procedures
- Maintain professional and disciplined working standards
