Equans is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join our Regional Construction team based in Hatfield. This is a senior leadership role responsible for the effective planning, management and control of multiple projects and partnerships across the region. You’ll oversee delivery from pre-commencement through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. Reporting into the Divisional / Operations Director, you’ll lead a dedicated delivery team and play a key role in the ongoing growth and development of the regional business unit.
Responsibilities
- Project & Operational Leadership: Lead the delivery of multiple construction projects across various sites; Maintain full operational control from pre-start through to handover; Ensure programmes, resources and budgets are achievable and controlled; Drive performance against KPIs, quality and financial targets.
- Client & Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong client relationships pre, during and post contract; Attend framework meetings and support partnership initiatives; Understand client objectives and adapt delivery strategies accordingly; Lead clarification meetings, interviews and bid support activities.
- Pre-Construction & Planning: Oversee pre-start processes and compliance requirements; Ensure H&S Plans, F10s and statutory notices are in place; Support bid strategy and innovative delivery solutions; Work with planners on logistics, programmes and procurement schedules.
- Team Leadership & Performance: Lead, mentor and develop site and project teams; Allocate resources effectively across contracts; Chair performance and project review meetings; Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture.
- Commercial & Quality Control: Work closely with Commercial teams on reporting and risk management; Monitor prelims, budgets and programme delivery; Ensure warranties and design risk allocations are in place; Drive defect prevention and quality assurance standards.
- Handover & Continuous Improvement: Oversee quality handover and post-completion support; Review project performance and lessons learned; Ensure client satisfaction surveys are completed; Promote robust document control and archiving processes.
- Health & Safety: Champion SHEQ strategy and compliance across all sites; Review site H&S performance regularly; Ensure teams are trained and competent in H&S procedures; Oversee production and archiving of H&S documentation; Ensure environmental and waste management compliance.
Experience & What We’re Looking For
- Proven track record in a senior operational / construction leadership role
- Experience managing multiple contracts simultaneously
- Background in Repairs, Planned Works and Gas contracts desirable
- Demonstrable delivery of Design & Build projects
