Equans is recruiting for a General Maintenance Operative on the HMCTS contract based at Southwark Crown Court. This is a permanent full‑time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package.

What will you deliver?

  • The primary purpose of the role is to carry out both planned and reactive maintenance on a wide variety of fabric and limited engineering assets, ensuring all activities are completed in a safe and timely manner.
  • Inspect/repair floor, walls, ceilings and roofs
  • Inspect/repair free‑standing and fitted furniture
  • Inspect/clear drainage and gully systems
  • Inspect/replace lamps/tubes
  • Inspect/repair doors (including fire doors), windows and associated furniture
  • Legionella duties – tap temperatures and flushing
  • Painting, re‑decorating and hanging of pictures/signs/notices
  • Plantroom inspections and AHU filter changes
  • Reactive repairs and initial attendance for toilets, leaks and blockages
  • Assist engineering staff in a wide range of duties as required
  • Carry out reactive/Ad‑Hoc activities – being the first response on site, and where appropriate taking immediate action to make safe
  • Escorting contractors

Who are we looking for?

  • It would be desirable if you hold an NVQ (or similar) in either plumbing, carpentry or decorating services
  • Demonstrable experience in either carpentry, painting, plumbing or flooring in a construction, repair or maintenance environment
  • Good knowledge of fire door maintenance and inspection techniques
  • Understanding of Legionella control techniques (e.g. tap flushing)
  • UK driving licence
  • Due to the nature of the contract you will be required to go through an enhanced security vetting process which will include a criminal records check
