Equans are looking for a Site Manager to join our team at Waltham Forest School on a permanent basis. This is a full‑time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package. Reporting to the General Manager, the Site Manager plays a critical part in the operational team, managing the overall delivery of the school including cleaning, caretakers, lifecycle works and asset replacement. The post holder will need to have strong leadership skills and be able to chair meetings and use innovative ideas to overcome issues. We are looking for an individual who has previous experience within a similar role, preferably within a PFI and/or Education background.

What will you deliver?

  • Deliver day‑to‑day operations to a high quality within the contract by applying professional expertise and management, along with compliance against the contract planned and reactive maintenance requirements.
  • Organise and participate in an emergency/out‑of‑hours call‑out service and participate in same by virtue of an escalation protocol.
  • Formulate suitable strategies, operational and maintenance strategies to meet the demands of the educational facilities and facilitate ongoing improvement and cost efficiency.
  • Recruit and manage the on‑site staff with support from the Contract Manager and HR team, undertake yearly appraisals and liaise with the Training Officer as necessary.
  • Manage the annual training schedule and implement staff development and training for on‑site staff and other agreed training for Authority staff accordingly.
  • Exercise financial and commercial controls in the management of expenditure and income within agreed budgets to maximise profitability of operations and deliver ongoing cost savings.
  • Implement and maintain the FM performance monitoring system and be accountable for the monthly performance.
  • Administer the helpdesk/maintenance/purchasing/payroll functions through the use of a corporate Maximo CAFM system.
  • Build good working relationships with all Service Users and ascertain their individual needs.
  • Provide a first‑line level of audit for all procedures and controls, supplemented by Independent Group Audit (external audits to ensure compliance with ISO9001) at annual intervals.
